Let’s talk about all those first times that we dare to dare. We know the feeling and we’ve all been there…the feeling that brings us a mixture of excitement and terrifying fear. Let’s admit it; it is not easy to dare, to dive into the unknown, to expose yourself, to chase your dreams or to try something for a first time. Shouldn’t it be only exciting, intriguing or maybe even emboldening? Why it is also so scary that it holds us back sometimes for years? Well, my friends, my discovery will most likely not going to shock you but if we decide to diminish its influence over us, this might tremendously change our lives. It is called…a fear of failure. That’s right! We have big dreams, unique style, maybe strange desires or ambitious goals in life but we often do not act on them simply because we fear all those judgemental looks on us, criticism, laughter, negative comments and the fear of failing ourselves or somebody whose opinion means the world to us. I get it! Let me tell you why I even decided to write about it. The reason is right in front of you. Since the moment the idea of this platform was born till its execution, I felt nervous. The rollercoaster of emotions was provoked by so many reasons but the one that kept returning was “What if I fail…what if people don’t like it…what if they judge me?” And I finally asked myself “So what?” after which I came to one simple conclusion that returned me to my balanced state…Some people will judge regardless, others will not like it but this does not mean neither that I failed nor that it will prevent me from doing it. We all do have feelings and of course we all want our work to be recognized but at the end of the day remember that this is your journey and if it feels right from the inside, the chances, that this will bring you closer to where you want to be, are quite high. Do not allow those temporary worries to stop you from doing what you think is best for you even if you have to place yourself outside of your comfort zone. In fact this is something that we should strive to achieve. Being outside of your comfort zone reveals what amazing possibilities the world hides only for those who dare to dare. Making big steps might make us uncomfortable at times but stepping outside of this comfort zone and willing to stay there for a while, will do at least two things for you. First, you will prove yourself that you can do way more than you thought even that one thing that scared you so much and planted so many self-doubts. Second, you will never be the same person ever again and I will explain what I mean with a quote coming from Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr. who said: “A mind that is stretched by a new experience can never go back to its old dimensions.” So my last question is…Do you dare to free yourself and to write your own conduct of happiness and style?
Keep it stylish inside out.
